MEGA PROJECT

PAN BORNEO HIGHWAY SABAH

Pan Borneo Highway Sabah is a multi-billion ringgit Federal Government’s project to upgrade road connectivity thus bringing the State to a higher level in terms of socio-economic development.

Phase 1 of this toll-free dual carriage way mega project covering a total distance of 706km was launched on 24 April 2016.

Costing RM12.86b and scheduled to be fully completed by end of 2021, the project will create a positive impact on the infrastructure landscape and socio-economy in Sabah.

The project will not only offer faster, safer and more comfortable road connectivity to the people, but also provide more efficient infrastructure and logistic network for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) throughout the State.

The route covers Marine Integrated Cluster (MIC) in southeast region (Tawau, Kunak and Semporna), Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) in Lahad  Datu and Sandakan, Sandakan Education Hub (SHE) in Sandakan and Kinabalu Gold Coast Enclave (KGCE) from Tuaran to Kudat.

It also covers Sepangar Bay Manufacturing and Logistic Cluster (SBMLC) in Sepangar, Sabah Agro-Industrial Precint (SAIP) in the interior south region (Papar, Kimanis, Beaufort, Keningau, Nabawan and Tenom), and Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP) in Sipitang.

PAPAR-DONGGONGON (WP5)

The project for Work Package 5 includes the construction of one 180m-long bridge at Sg. Simpudu to replace Jambatan Salleh Sulong.

TAWAU – SEMPORNA: PACKAGE 1 – PHASE 2 (WP15)

The 5km-long project  from Sg. Burung to Kg. Check Point involves upgrading of the existing road to two-lane dual carriage way.

LAHAD DATU BYPASS (WP21)

The Lahad Datu Bypass work package is a 7km two-lane dual carriageway bypass which upon completion will shorten the travelling distance from Semporna, Kunak and Tawau regions to Sandakan and West Coast of the State without entering the Lahad Datu town.

Three bridges and two interchanges are in the construction plan.

SINDUMIN – KG.MELALIA (WP1)

The Sindumin-Kg. Melalia work package is dubbed “Zero Kilometer”  as it is geographically the starting point of the Pan Borneo Highway Sabah at the border with Sarawak.

KG. LOT M – SANDAKAN MILE 32 (WP27)

The Kg. Lot M – Sandakan Mile 32 (WP27) work package is the mid-point between West coast and East coast of Sabah. Historically, Mile 32 was known as the “Check Point” as it was where road travelers to and from the said regions had to stop for security clearance.

PUTATAN – INANAM (WP6)

The Putatan – Inanam (19.6km) road construction project is part of Kota Kinabalu Outer Ring Road (KKOR) project. When completed, the 41.2km ring road from Putatan to Berungis roundabout in Tuaran,  would not only ease traffic congestion in Greater Kota Kinabalu (Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Inanam), but also shorten the distance and travelling time from southwestern to northern and eastern parts of the State and vice versa

INANAM-SEPANGGAR (WP7)

The Inanam-Sepanggar (9.9km) link is one of three parcels of Kota Kinabalu Outer Ring Road (KKOR) project. The work package includes construction of six bridges and two interchanges. The link will provide better and faster connectivity to Sepangar Port.
